Campbell River Estuary, Vancouver Island

The Campbell River Estuary was a beautiful setting for an unofficial off-leash park to walk Jazmin in regularly. It came with the occasional deer, a couple of black bears, and lots of jumping salmon at the estuary of the Campbell River with the Georgia Strait in late August and September.

Lower Campbell Lake - Strathcona Park, Vancouver Island

One Spring day I took a drive into Strathcona Park, along some logging roads that lead me to Lower Campbell Lake.

Quadra Island

Quadra Island is just a short, 10 minute or so, ferry from Campbell River, where you will find Rebecca Spit with an abundance of drift wood on the beaches. Along a gravel road on the northern part of the Island I discovered this cabin sitting on the rocks beside a serene lake.

It was still stormy in Campbell River when I arrived on January 29th, 2008,
but it was a far cry warmer than back in Alberta!
